titleOfInvention Ceramic filters for molten metal filtration based on common molten metal filter geometries and methods of making the same
abstract The invention relates to ceramic filters for molten metal filtration based on common molten metal filter geometries and to processes for their production. The invention is based on the technical object of improving the filtration efficiency of ceramic filters for molten metal filtration. The technical problem is solved by ceramic filters for molten metal filtration on the basis of common molten metal filter geometries, according to the invention the known ceramic filter is provided as a support material with an active surface coating, which has the same chemical phase constituents as those contained in the molten metal to be filtered inorganic non-metallic inclusions. According to the invention on porous support structures, for. B. on foam ceramic structures, in the green, fired or coked state, applied ceramic coatings at room temperature and subsequently thermally treated the composite materials consisting of the porous support structure and the active layer.
