A high pressure tank assembly (10) comprising: a structural outer layer (12) of composite material; an interior trim layer (14) positioned in the structural skin layer (12) and providing a gas-tight environment; a first strain gauge (20) provided in the structural skin layer (12); and a measuring device provided in the interior trim layer (14); characterized in that the measuring device in the inner lining layer (14) is a second strain gauge (22), the first and second strain gauges (20, 22) defining a separation point at which the inner lining layer (14) extends from the structural outer layer (12 ), which is caused by shrinkage of the inner liner layer (14) at low pressure, to which the two strain gauges (12, 14) are calibrated relative to each other to determine the pressure at which the inner liner layer (14) begins to shrink and shrink the outer layer (12) to solve. |
