abstract The present invention relates to a system for the metabolism of organic substances with at least one housing with an elongated space. The housing has at least one inlet opening for the introduction of liquids with organic substances at an upper end area and at least one outlet opening for liquids at a lower end area. The inlet port and the outlet port communicate with the elongated space, with the elongated space extending from the upper end portion to the lower end portion of the housing. Furthermore, the system for metabolizing comprises at least one plant opening arranged between the inlet opening and the outlet opening on the housing for receiving a carrier body for plants, the plant opening being connected to the elongate space and porous filling material arranged in the elongate space.
