The present invention discloses a specific synthesis method for the synthesis of asymmetric mono- and / or symmetrical diesters of citric acid by acid esterification by means of boric acid or a boronic acid as catalyst. The boron / boronic acid simultaneously acts as a catalyst as well as a "protecting group" for the tertiary carboxylic acid, so that specifically only the asymmetric mono- or symmetrical diesters are formed. |
