abstract The present invention relates to a method for determining the interaction between a polynucleotide and platelet factor 4 (PF4) comprising the following steps: a) contacting PF4 with a polynucleotide for a time sufficient to allow the formation of a polynucleotide / PF4 complex, b) determination of the extent of polynucleotide / PF4 complex formation, c) comparing the results of complexing with those obtained in the absence of the polynucleotide at comparable concentration and conditions in steps a) and b), the extent of polynucleotide / PF4 complex formation being determined by adding platelets in sufficient quantity allow binding of the polynucleotide / PF4 complex to the platelets and determine the extent of binding platelet / polynucleotide / PF4 complex or based on the particle size or by adding antibodies directed against the complex polynucleotide / PF4 and determining the extent of binding of the antibodies or by activation of platelets by anti-polynucleotide / PF4 antibodies by the following steps: Addition of antibodies directed against the complex polynucleotide / PF4, addition of platelets and determination of the degree of activation of the platelets.
