Process for the production of biogas |
abstract |
In a process for the production of biogases formed in anaerobic processes from organic fermentation substrate with the lowest possible hydrogen sulfide content, the hydrogen sulfide is converted into iron sulfide by iron (III) hydroxide. The iron (III) hydroxide used is obtained from aqueous sludges as a by-product in the treatment of drinking water or groundwater, the sludge being first subjected to mechanical drying to a dry matter content between 18 and 35% and then to thermal drying to form a dry-grain mixture with a grain size up to 10 mm. From this, powdered iron (III) hydroxide with a grain range between 0 and 0.5 mm is subsequently obtained by classification and / or grinding. The pulverulent iron (III) hydroxide is mixed with as homogeneous a distribution as possible into the fermentation substrate before the beginning of the anaerobic processes. |
