titleOfInvention | Process for producing diffusion layers without activator via metal foils |
abstract | Diffusion protection layers as protection against corrosion phenomena in aggressive atmospheres at high temperatures are already state of the art. This invention describes a novel process for coating a surface of an alloy, in several steps: 1. wrapping or rolling a thin metal foil on a component, wherein the film z. B. of pure aluminum or an aluminum alloy, which may contain other elements such as silicon, zinc or magnesium. But it can also be used films made of other metallic elements. 2. Then press the film by means of pressure z. B. on rollers, isostatically in a sand bed or other medium or a simple pressing operation with punch or die. This serves to produce a direct contact of the film with the coating substrate. 3. Thereafter, a thermal diffusion treatment under low oxygen partial pressure, achieved either by an additional coating or by a defined reducing or inert gas atmosphere. Subsequent heating of the component at a sufficiently high temperature causes z. As aluminum or other alloying elements such as silicon diffuse into the substrate and thereby formed on at least one surface of the alloy as a product enriched with additional elements diffusion layer. |
