Endoprosthesis and use of the endoprosthesis |
abstract |
An endoprosthesis according to the invention comprises a basic body which consists of a biocompatible material, wherein at least one channel and / or at least one cavity is formed within the basic body. An endoprosthesis designed in this way offers the advantage of monitoring the nature of the connection of the endoprosthesis with the endogenous bone, increasing the anchoring strength of the endoprosthesis and enabling targeted drug delivery. The production of an endoprosthesis having the described structure is advantageously achieved by layering the endoprosthesis from a powdery biocompatible material, wherein each powder layer is brought to a melting or sintering by heating to deposit or fix it with the underlying layer before application of the next powder layer the endoprosthesis is formed. In another embodiment, at least one channel and / or at least one cavity are introduced by a material-removing manufacturing process into a conventionally produced endoprosthesis. |
