| abstract | In a method for checking an implementation of a cryptographic function on a portable data carrier (10) for security against an error attack, in a cryptographic function, a compression value (YA, YB, YC, YD, YE) is calculated from a pre-value (A0, B0, C0 , D0, E0) and an input value. A compression function is used. Checking the implementation of the cryptographic function comprises the following steps: First, a calculation of the cryptographic function is disturbed (S1, T1, T5). Then the output of the data carrier (10) is analyzed in case of disturbed calculation (S3, T2, T3, T4, T6, T7, T8). The cryptographic function comprises finally linking the pre-value (A0, B0, C0, D0, E0) with the result (A80, B80, C80, D80, E80) of the application of the shortened compression function. The error attack is performed on the compression function as part of the cryptographic function. To protect the implementation of the cryptographic function on the data carrier (10) predetermined proportions of the calculation of the compression value are redundantly performed. |
