abstract The invention has for its object to provide a cost-effective method for producing a quartz glass crucible with an inner layer of transparent, synthetically produced quartz glass, which is characterized by a long service life. This object is achieved according to the invention by a method comprising the following method steps: (a) producing a gas-permeable crucible substrate having an inside by solidifying at least the surface of a particle layer of SiO 2 particles, (b) depositing a porous SiO 2 soot layer at least a portion of the inside surface of the crucible substrate by vapor deposition; and (c) vacuum assist sintering of the porous SiO 2 soot layer and at least a portion of the crucible substrate by means of an arc and vacuum applied over the wall of a vacuum crucible to form the quartz glass crucible and Inner layer of transparent quartz glass.
