A gas turbine engine (10) includes a turbine housing (40), a turbine (16) configured to receive hot combustion gas, thermal energy from the hot combustion gas subjected turbine component (22), and a turbine housing disposed outside the turbine housing and a cooling system (92) having cooling medium (99) therein. A heat pipe (72, 74) has a high temperature end in communication with the turbine component and a low temperature end extending from the turbine housing in communication with the cooling medium in the cooling system to transfer the heat energy from the component to the cooling medium. |
