abstract | An engine control system (50) for an automatic transmission (46), comprising: an engine torque control module (108) that increases engine torque from a first torque level (T in_initial ) to a second torque level (T in_end ) during a shift from a first gear ratio (r 1 ) to a second gear ratio (r h ), wherein the first gear ratio (r 1 ) is greater than the second gear ratio (r h ), wherein the first torque level (T in_initial ) is based on a driver input; and a transmission control module (106) that reduces a torque capacity of a first clutch to a third torque level during the period and that increases a torque capacity of a second clutch to a fourth torque level (T hc_end ) during the period; characterized in that the first torque level (T in_initial ) is based on a vehicle speed , and wherein the second torque level (T in_end ) is based on the first torque level (T in_initial ) and the first and second gear ratios (r 1 , r h ); and wherein the fourth torque level (T hc_end ) is based on the second torque level (T in_end ) and a torque gain (K hc ) of the second clutch. |
