abstract The invention relates to a device and method that can reliably close oil wells both under water, as well as on land. The device consists of a probe which is cylindrically constructed and has at least one hollow chamber inside. It is coupled with double pressure hoses or pipes that extend to a pumping system nearby. The probe has a very high cooling capacity and is able to freeze the oil into the hole. This will temporarily close the hole.
