titleOfInvention | Mass spectrometric microbial detection |
abstract | The invention relates to the detection of predetermined target microbes in various samples. The invention provides a method which combines only one to two culture steps for the propagation of the target microbes from the sample in preferably selective culture media with a mass spectrometric detection method, which can reliably detect the target microbes even in mixtures with other microbes, even if the target microbes only one make up a small part of the mixture. The sample may be a food sample, a bathing water sample, a soil sample, a wipe sample, a stool sample, an impactor sample with collected aerosol particles, or otherwise. Here, a detection method is presented that is a few days faster and cheaper than standard methods. |
