abstract |
Improved methods of performing quasi-asynchronous clutch-to-clutch shifting in a hybrid transmission and a hybrid transmission employing the same are disclosed herein. The method includes: priming the oncoming clutch; Determining whether the shift is completed using the oncoming or off going clutch; Slipping the outgoing clutch first if the shift operation uses the outgoing clutch; Determining a slip speed and a slip acceleration profile of the oncoming clutch; Determining if the oncoming clutch is full and if the sign of the slip is correct; if the off-going clutch is used, locking the oncoming clutch and deflating the off-going clutch if the oncoming clutch is full and the sign of the slip is correct; if the oncoming clutch is being used, determining if the on-coming clutch slip is less than a slip threshold and emptying the off-going clutch if the oncoming clutch is full and the sign of the slip is correct; and locking the oncoming clutch if the slip is less than the slip threshold. |
