The invention provides an organometallic compound as an emitter compound in which a metal atom, in particular iridium, is bound by an organic ligand to a homoleptic complex, or by organic ligands in admixture with one or more saturating ligands to form a heteroleptic complex. The organic ligand of the invention has a nitrogen-containing 5-membered ring or 6-membered ring, the nitrogen atom of which forms a complex bond to the metal atom, and a [2.2] paracyclophane group attached to the nitrogen-containing 5-membered ring or 6-membered ring, at least one carbon atom being another bond forms to the metal atom. |
