abstract The invention relates to a process for producing a dispersion which contains metal oxide nanoparticles in a liquid phase, comprising the following steps: (a) atomizing a molten metal to obtain a metallic powder, (b) optionally deforming the metallic powder obtained in step (a), (c) oxidizing the metallic powder obtained in step (a) or (b) to obtain a metal oxide powder, (d) comminuting in step (c) having a particle size d 90, oxide of less than 300 nm metal oxide powder obtained in the presence of a liquid phase to obtain a dispersion in which the metal oxide particles. The invention further relates to a dispersion obtainable by the process according to the invention.
