titleOfInvention Solution chiller
abstract The invention relates to a solution refrigerator operated with a mixture of 3 He and 4 He below the lambda point, which can be tilted in two planes by up to ± 45 ° with respect to its vertical starting position. The mixing chamber (1) of the solution chiller has a geometry in which the volume of the area of the mixing chamber (1) at mid-height has a much larger volume than the top or bottom areas, or in the mixing chamber (1) are both above also below each right and left, or introduced at the edge of the mixing chamber, packing (8). The still of the solution chiller has a geometry in which the volume of its lower portion is smaller than that of its upper portion, or in the still, fillers are disposed predominantly in the lower portion. Between the packing (8) and the walls of the mixing chamber (1) and the still are each column (7), which allow movement of the liquid between the walls and the packing (8). With the solution chiller, temperatures of up to 5 mK can be achieved in continuous operation. The chiller is particularly suitable for cooling detectors of astronomical devices.
