abstract | The present invention provides a process for producing solid polymer electrolytes using ionic liquids suitable for electrochromic devices or electrochromic windows employing an in situ polymerized solid polymer electrolyte comprising an ionic liquid. The electrolyte is thus free of leakage, corrosion, side reactions and moisture sensitivity. The synthesis of a polymeric electrolyte comprising ionic liquid containing at least one of the anions selected from the group consisting of trifluoromethylsulfonate (CF 3 SO 3 - ), bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide [(CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 N - ] ] and bis (perfluoroethylsulfonyl) imide [(CF 2 CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 N - )], described by varying the alkyl chain of the imidazolium ring and discussing a simple process for the preparation of ionic liquids. Further, a method for producing a substantially pure molten salt, ie, ionic liquid, is described. Another object of the present invention is to provide an electrochromic device using these systems. |
