abstract |
A medical work equipment that comes in contact with a human or animal body in use has a base body (2) with a poly-parylene surface coating (3). The surface coating (3) has Ag particles (4). In the preparation of the medical work equipment, a starting material containing parylene dimer is first evaporated to parylene monomers. The latter are then pyrolyzed to produce poly-parylenes. The poly-parylene is then deposited on the base body (2) in an atmosphere containing nanoscale Ag particles (4). This method is performed in a device having an evaporator chamber, a pyrolysis chamber, a precipitation chamber and a vacuum pump. The result is a medical work tool whose antimicrobial properties are improved. |
