abstract | This invention relates to an inorganic-organic composite phosphor consisting of an inorganic matrix and containing an organic fluorescent dye. The inorganic matrix consists of a metal compound and may be both crystalline and non-crystalline (i.e., X-ray amorphous). In the inorganic matrix is incorporated an organic fluorescent dye via chemical bonds between inorganic matrix and organic fluorescent dye. The inorganic-organic composite phosphor can be nanoscale. The luminescence properties of the composite phosphor are essentially determined by the organic fluorescent dye. Advantageous are the higher concentration of luminescence centers and the higher physical-chemical stability compared to unbound organic fluorescent dyes and the simple synthesis, the high quantum efficiency, the higher physicochemical stability and the lower toxicity compared to nanoscale phosphors. |
