abstract A method of fluorescence staining a tissue characterized by treating a tissue with a solution of fluorescein or one of its salts and then observing the fluorescence of the treated portion under acidic conditions at a pH of 4 to 6.5, the tissue being a tissue of the small intestine or of the colon, in which the treatment of the tissue with the solution containing the fluorescein or one of its salts consists of applying the solution to the tissue or immersing the tissue in the solution, and containing the fluorescein or one of its salts containing solution is an acidic solution having a pH of 4 to 6.5.
