abstract |
The invention relates to a device for generating ammonia as a reducing agent for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of a combustion source, in particular an internal combustion engine, wherein the ammonia is admixed in the flow direction upstream of an SCR catalyst to the exhaust gas. In this case, a separate from the combustion source and its exhaust gas management nitrogen oxide generating unit and a separate from the combustion source and its exhaust gas hydrogen generating unit is provided and nitric oxide of the nitrogen oxide generating unit and the hydrogen of the hydrogen generating unit is at least one storage catalyst or a nitrogen oxide storage and a subsequent catalyst for storing the nitrogen oxide and for the formation of the ammonia supplied.
