abstract Process for producing wood-based materials, in particular chipboard and fiberboard, preferably oriented strand boards (OSB) and medium-density fiberboard (MDF), from lignocelluloses, with reduced volatile organic compounds (VOC), comprising the step of mixing Comminution products of lignocelluloses, especially wood chips, wood strands, wood fibers and wood veneers with at least one additive and subsequent heat treatment, such as a hot pressing, characterized in that the additives are selected from i) at least one combination of components A and B, ii) at least one component C or iii) at least one combination of components A and B and at least one component C, wherein Component A is phenol or homologous phenols, resorcinol, phenol-formaldehyde precondensates, resorcinol-phenol-formaldehyde mixtures or resorcinol-formaldehyde mixtures, or mixtures of these compounds, Component B is a strong acid, especially sulfuric acid, nitric acid or hydrochloric acid and a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, preferably aluminum trichloride or boron trifluoride, or mixtures thereof, Component C is maleic anhydride, fumaric acid, acrylic acid, polyacrylates, homologues of acrylic acid, or mixtures thereof, and wherein the amount of additive is between 0.01% and 2% solids based on at least one lignocellulose.
