The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of α- (3-arylthio) acetophenones of the formula I in which the substituents R 1 and R 2 have the meaning given in the description by reacting an acetophenone of the formula IV with sulfuryl chloride in the presence an aliphatic alcohol is reacted and the resulting reaction product with the thiolate of the formula IIIb. |
