abstract Device for operatively connecting an internal combustion engine in motor vehicles to a subsequent transmission, the device being used as a substitute for a torque converter and having the following features: - The device has an enclosing housing (1) which is at least partially filled with oil; - The housing (1) consists of a motor-side (2) and a transmission-side housing shell (3), which are oil-tightly connected to each other at their joint; - The housing shell (2) on the engine side is non-rotatably connected to a drive shaft/crankshaft (5) of the internal combustion engine by means of a drive pulley (4); - A transmission input shaft (10) of the downstream transmission engages via a concentric opening (6) in the transmission-side housing shell (3); - The transmission input shaft (10) is non-rotatably connected to a hub (16) located inside the housing (1); - The device is hydraulically connected to an oil feed pump (12) which is arranged outside the housing (1); - in the housing (1) there is also a piston (9) which is arranged concentrically to the axis of rotation (7) of the housing (1) and is axially displaceable; - In the power flow between the housing (1) and the hub (16) friction plates (8) are arranged, by means of the piston (9) - at least indirectly - can be pressed against each other, which influences the power flow between the housing (1) and the transmission input shaft (10), the device being designed as a wet clutch and the wet clutch being equipped with a torsion damper whose springs (13) are designed as helical springs, characterized in that the piston (9) exerts the compressive force on the friction discs (8) via an additional component (29) designed as a cup spring.
