abstract | A process for the preparation of a 2-oxo-cycloalkane or 2-oxo-cycloalkenecarboxylic acid ethyl ester of the formula (I) is described. with the following step: Reacting diazoacetic acid ethyl ester with a cycloalkanone or cycloalkenone of the formula (II), in which X represents a saturated or a mono- or polyunsaturated C 9 -C 19 chain which is optionally substituted by a C 1 -C 4 -alkyl radical, in the presence of a Lewis acid to the 2-oxo-cycloalkane or 2-oxo-cycloalkencarbonsäureethylester of formula (I), wherein the molar amount of Lewis acid used is in the range of 0.01 to 0.5 equivalent, based on the amount of cycloalkanone or cycloalkenone of the formula (II). |
