The present invention relates to effect pigments with color flop comprising metal oxide coated SiO 2 platelets of uniform layer thickness, the color flop passing through all four quadrants of the a, b color coordinate system (L, a, b system according to CIELAB). Likewise provided by the present invention are processes for the preparation of these pigments in which SiO 2 platelets having a uniform layer thickness are coated with metal oxides, and the use of these pigments in cosmetics, paints, coatings, plastics, films, security printing, in security features in documents and ID cards, for seed coloring, for food coloring or in drug coatings and for the production of pigment preparations and dry preparations. |
