titleOfInvention Apparatus and method for emulating a counter electrode in a monolithically integrated electrochemical analysis system
abstract The invention relates to a sensor array having at least three electrodes and a switching unit and to a method for operating such a sensor array in an electrochemical analysis method. The at least three electrodes can be switched by means of the switching unit optionally as a counter electrode or as a work electrode electrically coupled to an electrolytic analyte, wherein the at least three electrodes are arranged such that at an electrode connected as a working electrode of the at least three electrodes in the electrolyte solution in the presence of the electrolytic Analyte sensor events take place. The electrodes which are not required as a working electrode at a certain time for the detection of the electrolytic analyte can thus be connected together as a counterelectrode of the sensor array. The realization of a separate counter electrode is thereby avoided.
