A process for coating electrically conductive substrates found in which (1) Applies and cures an electrodeposition paint layer to an electrically conductive substrate, resulting in an electrodeposition coating, followed by (2) applying to the electrodeposition coating a layer of a powdered coating material and curing, whereby a powder coating results, or alternatively (1) applying an electrocoating layer to an electrically conductive substrate and, without fully curing, drying, (2) applying to the dried electrocoating layer (s) a layer of powdered coating material and (3) co-curing the dried electrodeposition coating layer and the powdered coating layer, resulting in electrodeposition coating and powder coating, wherein the powdered coating material (A) at least one epoxy resin having a melting point, a melting range or a glass transition temperature> 30 ° C, (B) at least one carboxyl group-containing polyester resin having a melting point, a melting range or a glass transition temperature> 30 ° C, and (C) at least one polycarboxylic acid having a melting point between 80 and 165 ° C. contains. |
