abstract |
The invention relates to a daylight-active highly effective photocatalyst based on a carbon-modified titanium dioxide and a process for its preparation. The photoactive TiO 2 is prepared by mixing a finely divided titanium compound (BET ≧ 50 m 2 / g) with an organic carbon compound and subsequent thermal treatment at temperatures up to 350 ° C. The carbon content is 0.05 to 4 wt .-%, preferably 0.4 to 0.8 wt .-%. The product is characterized by a marked XPS absorption band at 285.6 eV. The photocatalyst according to the invention is suitable for the mineralization of impurities and pollutants in liquids and gases. |
