titleOfInvention Method and device for monitoring the particle concentration in a gas stream
abstract In a method for monitoring the particle concentration in a gas stream (24), in particular of soot particles in the exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine, a sensor (4) collecting particles (28) is placed in the gas stream (24). The sensor (4) is integrated as a capacitive element (32) in an electromagnetic resonance circuit (31). The resonant circuit (31) is energized with an AC voltage (42). A particle size of the sensor (4) variable characteristic of the resonant circuit is determined with the sensor unloaded as a reference value. The change in the parameter relative to the reference value due to particle loading is determined. An apparatus for carrying out the method has a particle (28) collecting sensor (4), which is placed in the exhaust stream (24) and integrated as a capacitive element (32) in an AC voltage (42) excited electromagnetic resonant circuit (31). The sensor (4) has a non-conductive basic body (12) and two electrodes (14a, b) spaced apart from each other.
