Process for the preparation of vitamin A esters, characterized in that a compound of formula IV wherein R 1 is 3-methyl-1,3-pentadienyl or 3-methyl-1,4-pentadienyl, R 2 and R 3 are the same or different and are C 1 -C 4 alkyl, in the presence of a base in an organic solvent with a compound of formula II wherein R4 is C 1 -C 15 hydrocarbon radical, and in that prior to the addition of the compound of formula II, the compound of formula IV and the base are added to the solvent. |
