abstract The present invention relates to a method of treating a wrinkle-reducing material and to impart temporary wrinkle resistance and feel. The method involves applying a solution of the treatment composition to the material in an amount effective to impart temporary crease and stain resistance, the treatment composition containing a hydroxyurea or hydroxyamide compound; and drying the treating composition at room temperature, wherein the hydroxyurea compound comprises a urea and at least one hydroxyl group and the hydroxyamide compound comprises at least one amide group and at least one hydroxyl group. The material treatment is useful for reducing wrinkles in garments, improving the feel of fabrics, and increasing moisture absorbency and retention in natural and synthetic fabrics.
