Tantalum purification process |
abstract |
A direct dissolution process for the purification of hydrated ammonium tantalum oxide (HATO), (NH¶4¶) ¶2-x¶H¶x¶Ta¶2¶O¶6¶ È nH¶2¶O) of technical quality is described and related compounds such as tantalum hydroxide and tantalum oxide. In the process, ammonium bifluoride is preferably used as the fluoride source instead of the hydrofluoric acid used in the conventional processes. Other fluoride compounds such as NaF, KF and CaF¶2¶ can also be used. |
