Improved process for the production of metal phthalocyanine sulfonamide catalysts suitable for the sweetening of liquid gases (LPG) and light petroleum distillates according to formula I DOLLAR F1 with DOLLAR A metal phthalocyanine (MPc) DOLLAR A MPc (SO¶2¶NHR) ¶x¶ DOLLAR AM = Co, Ni, Fe, Mn, Cr, V DOLLAR AX = 1, 2, 3, 4 DOLLAR AR = H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, DOLLAR A which comprises: reacting metal phthalocyanine with chlorosulfuric acid at elevated temperature, cooling the mixture by adding 1 -7 parts of a chlorinating agent, heating the mixture to obtain metal phthalocyanine sulfonyl chloride, isolating this component by adding the reaction mixture to ice-cold water, reacting the isolated metal phthalocyanine sulfonyl chloride with an amine of the general formula H¶2¶NR, where R is selected from hydrogen, Aryl, alkyl and cycloalkyl in an aqueous or non-aqueous medium or a mixture thereof in the presence of an acid bine detergent to obtain the desired catalyst. The metal phthalocyanine used is selected from the group consisting of cobalt, manganese, iron, nickel, chromium and vanadium phthalocyanine, most preferably cobalt phthalocyanine. The chlorination reagent used is selected from the group consisting of thionyl chloride, phosphorus trichloride and phosphorus pentachloride. The non-aqueous medium used is selected from the group consisting of chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, alcohols and N, N-dimethylformamide. The ... |
