titleOfInvention | Recombinant viral switch systems |
abstract | The invention describes a method for controlling a biochemical process or a biochemical cascade in plants which uses an interaction process between two heterologous DNA sequences in a transgenic plant on the one hand and a heterologous DNA sequence in a plant viral transfection vector on the other hand. Optionally, this interaction process also includes a low molecular weight compound. By means of an infection with a viral transfection vector, the interaction process constitutes a "gene switch" which activates a desired biochemical process or a biochemical cascade with the aid of various reactions such as nucleic acid combination, replication, transcription, restriction, translation, protein folding , protein build-up (assembly), protein transport within the cell (targeting), post-translational processing or an enzymatic reaction. A method for producing a product in a transgenic plant and a kit for such a method are also provided. |
