titleOfInvention Process for the reproducible production of a regular arrangement from nanocrystalline magnetic particles
abstract To produce orderly, flat structures, nanometer-sized magnetic particles are deposited from a stable colloidal solution on a substrate with the support of an external magnetic field of up to 0.8 Tesla as monolayers. If several monolayers are layered on top of each other by repeating the deposition process several times, there is no reproducible symmetry between the individual layers. To produce a three-dimensional crystal with highly symmetrical structures in all three spatial directions that can be reliably reproduced, the method according to the invention based on magnetophoretic deposition therefore provides that the external magnetic field has large field strengths, in particular between 6 Tesla and 10 Tesla. Furthermore, the colloidal solution must wet the substrate on which a crystal is to be produced at a wetting angle of at most 45 °. Various modifications of the crystals to be produced are possible by changing the individual process parameters. The method according to the invention is used wherever reproducible, highly symmetrical crystals with area sizes above 1 mum · 2 · are required, in particular in storage technologies.
