abstract The invention relates to an electrical double layer capacitor which has two electrode layers (2, 3) one above the other. These electrode layers (2, 3) are separated from one another by an electrically insulating separating layer (1). At least one of the electrode layers (2, 3) is applied to the separating layer (1) by a coating process. The capacitor according to the invention has the advantage that an improved volume utilization is possible due to the separating layer (1) coated with the electrode layer (2, 3).
