abstract The invention relates to resins obtainable from compounds of the formula (1) DOLLAR F1 in which the substituents R · 1 · and OH can be in the ortho, meta or para position to one another, and R · 1 · for C¶1¶ -C¶30¶-alkyl, C¶2¶-C¶30¶-alkenyl, C¶6¶-C¶18¶-aryl or C¶7¶-C¶30¶ alkylaryl, through which can be executed in any order Steps DOLLAR AA) reaction with glyoxal and DOLLAR AB) alkoxylation with a C¶2¶-C¶4¶ alkylene oxide in molar excess, so that the resulting alkoxylate has a degree of alkoxylation of 1 to 100 alkylene oxide units per OH groups, DOLLAR A and which have a molecular weight of 250 to 100,000 units, and their use as splitters for oil / water emulsions, especially in petroleum production.
