abstract The invention relates to a method for the enzymatic oxidation of substrates. When converting organic substrates with H¶2¶O¶2¶ using enzymes, there is the problem that the enzymes are deactivated in the course of the reaction by the aggressive H¶2¶O¶2¶. A method for the enzymatic oxidation of substrates is therefore provided according to the invention, which is characterized in that the H¶s¶O¶2¶ necessary for the reaction is produced by an electrochemical route. Surprisingly, the enzyme is not subject to deactivation by H¶2¶O¶2¶ in this process, even if the stationary concentration of H¶2¶O¶2¶ corresponds to the same concentration which is brought about by conventional processes. An apparatus for performing the method is shown in Figure 1.
