The invention relates to storage-stable, water-soluble chlorhexine-containing compositions. The compositions are in powder, granule or tablet form and consist essentially of DOLLAR A (i) a salt of chlorhexidine with 2 moles of a sugar acid and a microbicidal quaternary ammonium bromide or of DOLLAR A (ii) chlorhexidine, a sugar acid or sugar lactone, where at least 2 moles of sugar acid or sugar lactone are present per mole of chlorhexidine, and one microbicidal quaternary ammonium bromide. DOLLAR A Preferred compositions consist essentially of chlorhexidine digluconate and N-cetyl-N, N, N-trimethylammonium bromide (cetrimide) in a weight ratio of 1 to 1 to 1 to 10.
