titleOfInvention Thermostable, photo-inducible redox-active unit for the electrochemical detection of nucleic acid-oligomer hybridization events
abstract The present invention relates to a nucleic acid oligomer which is modified by chemical bonding of a thermostable, photoinducible redox-active unit. This modified nucleic acid oligomer can be used in a method for the electrochemical detection of sequence-specific nucleic acid oligomer hybridization events. The modified nucleic acid oligomer is bound at one end to a conductive surface and carries the thermostable, photoinducible redox-active unit at the other, free end. By treatment with the oligonucleotide solution to be examined (target), a part of the single-strand oligonucleotides is hybridized, whereby the originally non-existent or only weakly existing electrical communication between the conductive surface and the thermostable, photo-inducible redox-active unit is increased. This enables the detection of a hybridization event using electrochemical methods such as voltammetry, amperometry or conductivity measurement.
