abstract A fuel cell system (SY1) includes a reforming unit (2) for the production of a hydrogen-rich gas mixture by reforming a compound containing hydrogen, a fuel cell package (6) for the generation of an electromotive force by a reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. The fuel cell system (SY1) further includes a hydrogen separation unit (3) arranged between the reforming unit (2) and the fuel cell package (6). The hydrogen separation unit (3) is provided with hydrogen-permeable means for obtaining a fuel gas by separating the hydrogen gas from the gas mixture.
