The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing oligomers and arrays of oligomers, the synthesis method being expanded by an additional neutralization step. This enables the protective groups to be removed without carry-over, which allows deprotection of the oligomers at precisely defined positions on the support material. For this method, a new type of microelectromechanical device is used which, through the integration of reaction chambers (13) and several liquid metering elements (1, 4, 5, 7, 8) in one chip, enables precise addressing on a carrier material in the form of a one- or multi-dimensional array allowed.
