abstract |
In a process for producing a reversibly photochromic layer of a translucent matrix of a polymer phase having dispersed therein silver-containing particles and having at least one suitable oxidant at least partially present in the reduced form, comprising a photochromic emulsion by reacting at least silver or a silver compound with is prepared in the oxidized form of the oxidizing agent and is processed into a layer, is used according to the invention for the preparation of the photochromic emulsion, the oxidizing agent in excess of silver, wherein the molar ratio of the oxidizing agent to silver is greater than 2. The silver may be provided as elemental silver-containing silver sol or as silver compound, particularly silver oxide, silver oxide hydrate or silver hydroxide. |
