A slidable member such as an adjustment wedge used in a valve actuation mechanism of an internal combustion engine of a car. The slidable member is used in contact with lubricating oil and has a substrate. A hard carbon-like film is deposited on a surface of the substrate. The hard carbon-based film has a surface area having at least one of nitrogen or oxygen in a range of 0.5 to 30 atomic% and / or hydrogen in a range of not more than 10 atomic%. |
