titleOfInvention Wireless network with a key change synchronization procedure
abstract The invention relates to a wireless network with a radio network controller and a plurality of assigned terminals which are provided for encrypting certain data to be transmitted via user and control channels and for changing the respective key required for encryption at certain times. The radio network controller and at least one terminal store data unit numbers and identify the key used in the data units during a synchronization procedure which begins with the transmission of the first data unit encrypted with new keys either by the radio network controller or the terminal and with the repeated transmission of the last data unit encrypted with old keys ends either from the radio network controller or from the terminal.
