titleOfInvention | Improved procedure for the extraction and isolation of phyllanthin |
abstract | The invention relates to an improved method for the extraction and isolation of phyllanthin from P. amaru. The process includes pulverizing the dry leaves, macerating the powdered leaves with calcium carbonate, percolating the pulverized leaves using a mixture of organic solvents, removing the solvents by distillation, precipitating fats by a combination of organic solvents, and then the Remove precipitates by filtration, separate the n-hexane fractions and remove the fractions in vacuo to obtain a residue rich in phyllanthin. The residue is then subjected to silica gel column chromatography for fractionation using solvents and solvent mixtures of increasing polarities. The corresponding fractions rich in phyllanthin are combined and crystallized to obtain pure phyllanthin. |
