The invention relates to a process for preparing monomer-free, aliphatic, biodegradable homo- and copolyesters by bulk polymerization of their 1,4-dioxane-2,5-diones, wherein the polymerization is carried out temporarily under vacuum. In this way, unreacted monomers and unwanted by-products from the polymer are removed in the same synthesis.
